OK, this isn't a post about what has happened to money... rather, when people assay COVID tests what are they comparing them against? How do they know how accurate they are - sensitivity and specificity?

Since our earlier discussion I've been looking in to this. From what I've been able to find, it's very difficult to tell current/previous infection of any coronavirus from current/previous infection with SARS CoV-2. In other words, as near as I can tell anyway, a positive test, either swab or antigen, could be showing infection with any of the 6 coronaviruses known to infect humans - there's no guarantee it's THE coronavirus (i.e. COVID-19).
